About this deal

It is the fourth book in a series which did worry me slightly, as I haven’t read the others, but apart from spoiling the previous books (to be fair you can’t have a series without referencing past outcomes! Who are the people dressed up in PE clothes, capes, and masks running around the village and meeting secretly in the school at night?

The Dinner Lady Detectives By Hannah Hendy |The Works

It is really wonderful to catch up with Margery and Clementine Butcher-Baker and the rest of the dinner ladies. Looking for your next cosy fireside read, or is your preference for gritty hard-hitting action replete with guts Love your crime fiction set in Wales? I really liked how this one talked about the ongoing trauma the Butcher-Baker ladies were facing after the events of book 3 and how they came to the realisation they both needed some support.

As the symbols continue to appear all around the town, the sleuths must solve the case before the killer carries out another murder. Side note: I don’t like to compare books but I have to say that I enjoyed TDLD more than The Thursday Murder Club.

When the body of Caroline Hughes is discovered in the walk-in freezer of the Summerview secondary school kitchen, her colleagues are stunned. I loved their relationship with each other, how they supported each other and seemed to lift each other up by being opposites. The story began when Clementine and Margaery has been visited by Seren and announced that the head of the Kitchen is dead — Caroline.Instead, you are just following around these Dinner Lady Detectives as they try to figure out the murder using the resources a civilian has. The mystery in general was, I guess, a little obvious—this was more in the kind of sense that once you know who it is you go back and suddenly certain interactions that you thought, that has to be too obvious, are shed in a different light. Matching the other 3 books in style, but a new bold colour - these are going to look amazing on my shelf! The hilarious pond which everybody hates but never bothers too much to talk about it represents what it would be like in a small town as Dewstow represents in this book.
