About this deal

In the same way that the Tooth Fairy makes children happy about their teeth falling out, looking forward to seeing Booby-milk-magic fly away to Booby Moon can give the same wondrous joy to a weaning toddler. I thought some of the book might have had an effect on him, but I did not expect such an immediate and magical change.

Booby Moon, inspired by both Indigenous storytelling and Western mythology like the Tooth Fairy, uses a simple rhyming format to prepare toddlers – and parents – for this monumental milestone. The back section of Booby Moon contains kind, insightful guidance for using the book to facilitate weaning. Still, I found this book to be a sweet idea for a weaning ritual in a culture that lacks any such thing to provide closure for those who have chosen to breastfeed into the toddler years. However, my son noticed the book on my desk and asked me to read it to him, and he’s since requested it many more times. Thomas and Moon formed a band, Life After Death, in the mid-1980s, which enjoyed a torrid, brief career; flirting with major labels, releasing a four-song EP on vinyl, and even making a music video. This is a beautifully illustrated book about weaning which helps your little ones prepare to move off of breast milk and onto food.

Able to speak English, Korean, and Spanish, Bobby also dabbles with a few musical instruments, such as piano, bass, and percussion.I am still in a bit of disbelief about how well it worked, while being respectful of him and making it a celebration at the same time. It helped us through something I was very apprehensive about, and made the experience something positive for my son. While our feeds had dropped to one or two a day, refusing him was very difficult and dropping feeds was always a drawn out process. Book also includes a gentle-parenting user guide that how to wean using Booby Moon, night weaning prior, breaking the fed-to-sleep habit and various options for a meaningful goodbye ritual.

Sure, they gave toddlers a heads-up that the milk would soon be gone, but they didn’t imbue the process with the joy, ritual or excitement that she wanted. Booby Moon is special because it has a magical element that appeals to the child and also sets up a beautiful ritual to complete the breastfeeding journey. When the time came for Kiwi Yvette Reid to stop breastfeeding her toddler son, she knew storytelling would help make the transition easier for him. Maybe we’ll have a party and release a magical balloon; maybe we’ll just talk about how he doesn’t need milk anymore, “Like the toddler in Booby Moon! As a teen, Bobby enjoyed writing lyrics, and found a number of bands employing his words for their compositions.Using the 'Booby Moon' story was such an easy and beautiful experience that it needs to be shared with parents around the world. I implemented a number of the suggestions in the back of the book to make the process more magical for him and easier for us.
