About this deal

I also haven't really tried N64, I understand either android or an alternate Linux OS will handle it better than the built-in OS but knowing that, I'm fully confident that it will handle it fine. The RG353V and RG353VS retro handheld emulators from Anbernic offer a choice of Android and Linux OS’s or Linux OS only. Keep in mind that the RG353 is capable of reliably emulating up to PS1 with a lot of the N64 catalogue also being playable. However, you can definitely play a good number of Dreamcast and PSP games on this device. Let’s start with the meat and potatoes of any retro gaming inputs, the face buttons and the dpad. A large majority of your library prior to the 5th generation consoles (N64, PSX, Saturn) will use these as their primary inputs, so it’s important that they get done right, and this is where Anbernic traditionally shines. This device will carry on this tradition, with a large responsive dpad, and decently large (for a handheld) face buttons with just the right amount of travel and resistance, all utilizing a rubber membrane interface that Anbernic has clearly mastered at this point.

If you're experiencing excessive audio delays (of about 1 second or more) in retroarch based emulators, try reducing the retroarch audio delay configuration by going to retroarch Settings>Audio>Output>Audio Latency (ms). It's set by default to 128. You can try reducing that to 64 or another number and see if that helps. Haven't tried the android mode yet, but the Linux OS runs everything that I need so I'm really happy with it. Go to Edit This Game's Metadata then go to Emulator and select retroarch, retroarch32 or standalone where applicable. Then go to core and select preferred core. If Emulationstation doesn't load due to a bad configuration of the es_systems.cfg file, you can load BaRT and Select Enable Remote Services from the Options menu so that SSH is enabled before attempting to connect.Edit April 2023: The issue with the v2 screens has been fixed in newer builds of the ArkOS installation Most distributions contain PortMaster which is a fantastic tool that helps to install old (and some new) linux/PC games that are playable on the RG353 Swipe up from the bottom to see the navigation buttons and swipe further to open the app drawer where you will find all of your pre-installed apps The android OS on the RG353 can provide a great experience but it will require some work to get it setup. If you plan on playing PSP or N64 on this device then I definitely recommend putting in the effort as the Android side is more capable for these systems and will give you better performance.

You can now use File Manager to navigate to /mnt/usbdrive to access the mounted USB drive to copy and/or move files between it and ArkOS. You’ll want make sure that you have a second SD card where you will load up all of your ROMs. This is not required but I highly recommend it. Insert your blank SD card into the device in the TF2 slot and format the card as external storage. The next thing I did was restart the system into the Linux OS and have it configure the SD card with the Linux file structure. This makes it easier to use a single card for both OS. You can see more on this in my Starter’s Guide for the RG353 Just pop the micro SD card into a card reader, plug it into your Windows 10 1703, Mac OS X, or Linux computer and look for the drive letter named EASYROMS. To access BaRT, just hold the B button while booting and in a few seconds, you should be presented with the Boot and Recovery Tools screen similar to this:

Swipe down twice from the top to fully open the shade then select the gear icon in the right corner of the shade. Audio from video snapshots and video screensaver does not play when bluetooth audio is connected. Resolved as of 01/03/2023 update.
