About this deal

POLITICAL - I [electric current] "input" to (LOCAL PIT*). The def is specifically "government's", as in "of government"

Reversals involve reversing the letters of the clue to get the answer. The reverse of “era” is “are,” for example. LOHENGRIN - RHEINGOL[d] N*; Lohengrin is not part of the Ring Cycle, as Rheingold is - just another opera from Wagner. Me, I care little for the music or the man. Containers imply that you’ll need to insert a word inside of another word, usually indicated in the clue by words like “within” or “surrounding.”Question marks often imply wordplay or puns. Usually, crossword clues are written with no punctuation at all, so if you see a question mark, it implies that the answer won’t be as straightforward as you’d think. Think of puns, wordplay, homonyms, and less-obvious answers. Since I've been following the elections in the US, Australia and the recent ones in France and the UK, 21 across is one of my favorite clues in a long time, well put setter! UNCHASTE - UNC(l)E replaces L='a bit' of Lunch, by HAS + T. I don't like the use of 'a bit' to mean 'the first letter'. I don't see where that comes from. FRENCH BEAN - café is French for coffee, so you would find many beans (not just one) in a cup or pot, say

The fact that Richard Rogan is a true crossword puzzle aficionado is also evident from the fact that he runs the CodyCross: A fun app that’s not quite Scrabble or a crossword, CodyCross is an updated version of the classic word puzzle. See our special cheats for winning at CodyCross for help. The book Two Across by Jeff Bartsch tells the story of a romance in which two brainy people communicate their love via clever crosswords. Depending on the difficulty and the specific newspaper editor, you might find cryptic crossword clues with weird traits like these:For the love of your sanity, use a pencil. If you’re using physical paper instead of an online crossword app, use a pencil and eraser. Mistakes, misinterpretations, and confusion are likely to arise, even if you’re a seasoned pro. CROSS-POLLINATE - CROSS (mongrel) + POLL (parrot) + IN (at home) + ATE (upset, as in "his failure ate away at his confidence" or similar) Cryptic crosswords are like normal crosswords, but the clues tend to involve wordplay and also have very convoluted, intentionally confusing hints. If you’re doing a cryptic crossword, know that the definition is typically hiding in plain sight, and don’t lose heart! KITTEN - T(he)T(ig)E(rs), inside KIN (family). These "take certain letters but not necessarily alternately" clues seem to be on the increase.

The prolific Margaret Farrar is succeeded at The New York Times by Will Weng, who is later succeeded by Eugene T. Maleska. LA Times Crossword: Solution-finding is just as hard with this paper, originally founded in 1881. People frequently ask, “What are the answers to today’s LA Times crossword?” registered users can also test their knowledge and solve The Times Daily Quiz or the interactive quiz Word HEPTAGON– Anagram (irregular) of [ON THE PAG[e}] (not entirely = drop the last letter of {pag}E from the anagrist). USA Today Crossword: Besides free crosswords, USA Today also offers other games, like sudoku and mahjong.Somewhat ironically, The New York Times complains that crosswords are a “sinful waste” in which solvers “get nothing out of it except a primitive form of mental exercise, and success or failure in any given attempt is equally irrelevant to mental development.” ( The New York Times will later become famous for its top-notch crosswords.) No fewer than four double definitions (DDs) here and plenty of deletion too, certainly contributory factors to making this a rather easy offering. Only the papal mini-bull held me up to any extent, but even that was pretty tractable. As a bull - of whatever size - should be.
