Post-Bomb Cleanup: After using a flea bomb, open all windows for fresh air circulation, then hoover treated areas thoroughly using an outdoor trash can – flooring, carpets, and furniture should all be treated equally. The turning point for me came last year, when I started regularly fumigating my cupboards and the attic. Many natural sprays and powders exist with fewer chemicals and promises of better safety. However, even natural sprays and powders must be used with care. In houses up and down the country, there is a war being waged against clothes moths. Among other things, it features chemical weapons, smoke bombs and armies of tiny, parasitic wasps. While virtually all the 2,500 or so species of British moths are ecologically beneficial, there are two that eat textiles and objects derived from animals, including wool, silk, skin and fur. They will munch through antique rugs and treasured cashmere.During this stage, you may be able to freeze certain items for 72 hours if you believe that they are salvageable. Freezing for an extended period can effectively kill hidden larvae and eggs, as they are not tolerant to extreme temperatures. Moth larvae feed principally on animal fibers such as wool, cashmere, fur, and silks. Moth eggs need to be on fabrics that are edible to them. So that once the eggs hatch out, the moth larvae can feed on the stuff until it reaches maturity. Then the moth larvae will make a cocoon and undergo metamorphosis to become adult clothes moths. Fortunately, if you are not an expert in moth identification, the type you have is less important than the location in which you discovered them. Moths can be killed or kept away from certain places with specific traps or chemicals. If you see moths in your room you need to find out what the moth larvae are feeding on and how to get rid of them. I bought the carpet moth killer kit and it worked a treat thank god, no more moths. Easy to apply and a reasonable price.

MothPrevention® speak to customers every day about their clothes moth issues - clothes moths are a species that are ever increasing and that can cause significant damage to clothes, carpets and other home textiles. Allow adequate time for the chemical process to finish working, and be sure to vacuum or clean any remaining powder residues before letting pets re-enter a space. This includes removing any dead moths or larvae and disposing of them safely. How to Protect Fish Tanks and Reptile Enclosures when Treating for Moths Then put the moth fogger in an appropriate location. It is recommended that you take a chair or stool or table and put it in the center of the room that needs to be fumigated. Cover the chair or table with a couple layers of paper towels, since the chemicals the fogger or bomb releases could cause stains. Step 5 - Activate The Moth Fogger

Moth killer products: These are the only type that we sell and are the products required to eradicate an active infestation and maintain control.

Clothes moths like dirty, natural materials. Not necessarily filthy or muddy, but a little sweaty and dusty - covered in the normal accumulations of daily wear. Other tell-tale signs of Moth Larvae in clothing or carpets are silky webbing spun by the Moth Larvae, cases after pupation and the adult Moth has flown in search of a mate to perpetuate the life cycle, or partly eaten fibres. Foggers are a type of pesticide that is used to kill insects. They work by releasing a fog or mist into the air that contains chemicals that kill the insects. Foggers are often used to kill moths, and they can be effective at killing these pests. However, foggers can also be harmful to humans and pets if they are not used properly. A common indication that one has an infestation is evidence of damage. This normally shows itself in the form of irregular shaped holes in clothing or, if you have a heavy infestation of clothes moths, you may notice what is known as 'webbing' on garments. If you are using powders, be sure to thoroughly vacuum after they have been in place long enough to take effect. If you are using mothballs, positioning sachets, or other similar products, keep them out of reach of young children and pets to avoid ingestion. How to Protect Yourself During Moth TreatmentTheir females can lay between 30 and 200 eggs which can take up to two years to reach full maturity depending on whether the circumstances are suitable. Left untreated, they could do serious damage to natural fibres in clothing and could potentially ruin your wardrobe. We get it; you want to keep your garments and belongings safe from the destructive power of moths. However, you also don’t want your children or pets to suffer harm from the chemical treatment process! Fumigation, spraying, and other forms of chemical treatment can indeed pose a significant danger to household members if not carried out properly. Therefore, as you implement any form of chemical Clothes Moth treatment, carrying out adequate safety measures is critical. Seal ventilation. Open any cabinets, closets, and drawers in the infested room. Lastly, make sure the windows are closed and that any fans or window air conditioners have been shut off. Step 4 - Locate The Moth Fogger Consequently, if clothes moths keep on appearing in your house, you must take action. Looking for a moth in a room For that you need a product that kills, like fumigation (or freezing). I operate on the assumption that every year I have probably failed to prevent at least some moths. So I do both fumigation and repelling.

Most treatments, such as moth balls and strips etc, are only useful to prevent moths. They stop them breeding, or repel them. But if you already have moths in your clothes, they’re useless. Dee Lauder, a pest control manager at English Heritage, has noticed a significant increase in moths in the past 10 years and particularly in the past five. “The best way of keeping on top of it is very good management and housekeeping,” she says. “We have collection-care assistants who are trained to go into the houses and carry this out all the time for us. These are increasingly the things you need to concentrate on in the average home as well. It’s not a case of running a vacuum over the carpet and thinking that’s done – at least once a month, and particularly during the spring and summer months, you need to thoroughly go round the edge of the carpet with a nozzle on the vacuum. Take out items in your wardrobes and give them a shake out because moths don’t like disturbance.” If you have carpet underneath your cupboards, you might want to think about getting rid of it, she says. “If you’ve got heavy items of furniture, and sofas, you need to be pulling them out at least once a month and thoroughly vacuuming underneath. This is how we keep on top of it in historic houses.” Moths do not bite. What you think may be the result of a bite is but an allergic reaction. The wings of clothes moths contain protein-based allergens. Like any allergies, it is but a matter of probability that you may be sensitive. In general, clothes moths and their larvae do not possess urticant hairs. But other species can shed such irritant hairs in your environment and bedsheets and you could get sting marks as a result. The full life cycle of the common clothes moths can take up to four to six months in the wild. But in our homes, conditions and temperatures are very favourable. So, clothes moths may live one month, eggs may take less than ten days to hatch, larvae will reach maturity in about a month and the pupate stage will last about two to three weeks.Smoke Bomb Professional Strength Fogger Fumigator for Fleas Bed Bugs Moths Cluster Fly Spider Poultry Red Mite and All Insects Killer Midi Fumer 11g by Pest O One® I have been invaded with these creatures but was grateful for the advice and products from Mothkiller.co.uk.
