The shoes passed the waterproof test in damp conditions where there was rain around, although I probably wouldn't choose to go out in them if it was raining as the mesh section around the top of the foot could be a little liable to getting wet. The original PUMA ALPHACAT had great traction, hence the high marks for traction in our Best Spikeless Golf Shoes 2023 testing. The new PUMA ALPHACAT NITRO uses some of the same toolings with the addition of a new radial traction pattern near the ball of the foot.

This is very comfortable once you're wearing them as there's no pinching around the top of the foot, but it does take a little bit of getting used to.The GS-Fast comes with a wide rubber outsole that is littered with a ton of small rubber studs. That means these shoes are better used as a summer golf shoe but still performed very well in slightly soft autumnal conditions with their grippy outsole providing solid traction on the turf. They are also completely waterproof and are very easy to wipe down after your round. Put these two together, then, and you get a shoe which should give you the confidence to swing as hard as you like regardless of the lie or course conditions. I mentioned that the biggest change to the ALPHACAT NITRO is the addition of PUMA’s flagship NITRO foam. Often found on the brand’s running line, NITRO is an extremely lightweight but stable foam. To put the new Alphacat shoe to the test and see whether they really are the 'King of Comfort', I headed down to Denton GC in Manchester for a full day's testing. The resulting traction is grippy in all directions. I have no real complaints here. As far as spikeless traction is concerned, the PUMA ALPHACAT NITRO is a solid performer. Well I don't know if I could say that they are without doubt the most comfortable shoe I've ever worn, but considering that these are what I'd call a mid-way shoe - in between a full spiked shoe and a real lightweight spikeless model like the FJ Flex - I think you'll do well to find a model which beats the combination of comfort and stability that they offer.
