About this deal

Rickman, who went on to play Professor Snape in the Harry Potter films, became known as one of the great movie villains, an actor who was magnetic in his menace and fury. Puede no agradar a todos debido a que Rickman no le temía a conjurar pensamientos críticos o a plasmarlos y porque su veloz y lúcida mente insistían en analizar y sobreanalizar todo aquello de lo que formaba parte.

In excerpts published by the Guardian from the forthcoming book Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman, the late, great Rickman shares his unfiltered thoughts on the Harry Potter franchise, including his desire to stop playing the role of Severus Snape and his decision to ultimately “see it through. The entries in this book are plain, deep, intimate brief thoughts of Rickman's feelings, and it felt wrong somehow to read them.

Too often, all we present is an attempted repeat of a hazy memory of the once we thought we almost made it. The last months of entries are moving not because Rickman relates much about his treatment, or his hopes and fears. It's like he's invited readers backstage access into his life (gatecrash more like, as I don't think we're invited). He hit pay dirt in 1988 as Hans Gruber in the immortal Die Hard , holding a skyscraper to ransom while running a malevolent eye over his to-do list in a Filofax. This book contains thoughts written down in the moment rather than a narrative of events, which makes them difficult to listen to and some comments about others perhaps should have been kept private.

His notes are brief and bulleted, barely expressing a thought, and those couched among a litany of famous names with whom he had a drink, or dinner, or worked. Madly, Deeply is a subtle piece of business and requires more dedication than one is used to expending on content from a posthumous diary.More of him comes into view when you see what those journals were and from where this material was taken. I chose to listen to this book as an audiobook after hearing on a podcast that it would have some of the actors from Harry Potter narrating.

Im currently struggling with the Alan Rickman book it is a private diary and I don’t feel enough context has been explained as at times I feel I don’t not know what he was on about or who / what he is referring to. Rather than any continuing stream of bile, what we get in Madly, Deeply is a great deal of low-level griping interspersed with long lists of celebrities and exhausting accounts of world travel .The book is a relentlessly waspish grumble about fellow actors delivering disappointing performances . They are moving because he realizes he’s lived so fast and hard that he’s never had time to look back, to savor it all . The diaries span 22 years, beginning in 1993 and ending in December 2015 (a few weeks after the final entry, Rickman died, aged 69, from pancreatic cancer), thereby capturing him at the height of his fame.
