Kate’s passion for music is my own, though I can’t play an instrument and I’m completely tone deaf when it comes to singing.

This book is definitely an ugly crier, but the beautiful thing is, it was also very light and funny. Gus is very protective of Katie and with good reason; she has one of the biggest kindest hearts you could ever come across. I hate reading sad books, but I also am so grateful that I took the time to let my heart break and enjoy this story! I always feel like it's only fair when this happens to analyze if there isn't something wrong with ME. Before you revoke my woman card or force me to burn my bra and roar, it's kind of a common occurrence with female heroines.Last night was a long night and has left me tired and bleary eyed but delighted that I am now able to say I have finished what was possibly my favourite book of 2014 so far and that is not a statement I say lightly because I have read so many books but Bright Side is that good, it will stay with me for a very long time. Writing Style- Strong and Methodical, which most won’t understand but it is, EVERY word served a purpose as I previously stated. Bright Side wasn’t only my best friend; she was like my other half … the other half of my brain, the other half of my conscience, the other half of my sense of humor, the other half of my creativity, the other half of my heart. I would include every song by The 1975 on this playlist if I could because they’re like children – hard to pick a favorite.

I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone so I’m just going to take some time to talk about the characters. We are elegant creatures capable of depth and empathy and heartbreak, who clutch Kindles and hurt and feel – especially at 3 AM. There is no mistaking the strength of their bond, or the fact that there are feelings shared that extend beyond the bounds of normal friendship.BUT good music of any genre is irresistible and I feel like I’ve been opened up to a whole new world! I hope to hear more from Gus and the rest of the guys from Rook and I would love to find out what becomes of Keller and the others. Gus was the lead singer of Rook, a group at the brink of greatness and Kate knew it was his time to make his dreams come true. I can’t say enough good things about this book and the utterly emotional story encapsulated within its pages.

We could all learn a thing or two from Hendrik and his friends and I can highly recommend this second volume of his diary to you. Kate will sweep you off your feel, she will pull you along with her on her journey to the inevitable but she will have you laughing with her all the way. For example, is it better to stay away from books that are too “life-like,” or is seeing your own experiences mirrored in characters beneficial?Those things lead to big things and small things and more monumental things, but ultimately they lead you to Kate and Keller. But let me tell you there's nothing in the world like achieving something you've dreamt about for years and years. The connection between them was what first drew me into the story, and it was, to me, the constant thread that held everything together.
