Factory is great; the native 4K image is sumptuous in its detailing, colouring, and black and white level, giving rise to a stunning picture; while the Dolby Atmos surround track makes full use of the 3D sound environment for a spellbinding aural experience. Coraline was shot digitally using Nikon D80, Princeton Instruments MegaPlus EC11000, and Red One Cameras and ultimately finished as a 2K DI. In terms of the reception from the critics upon its original 2009 release, Coraline was extremely well-rated.Things, however, are never what they seem, and very soon there is a sinister turn of events with everything beginning to, quite literally, unravel . Popping the disc in I was immediately drawn to the animation (though at the time it was a bit awkward. Later that night, a mouse leads her back to it, whereupon she discovers a strange tunnel leading to an exact replica of her house, complete with ‘other mother’ and ‘other father’, where everything is what she wants: good food, attention, fun and colour, the only peculiarity is everyone has buttons for eyes. Coraline's wide-release 3D version carries over most of the extras found on the standard 2D-only release.

We wind up with a story not at all unlike Alice In Wonderland, a fairly simple fairy tale-esque narrative that imaginative kids or grownups alike should have no problem relating to. fantastic art and is a much better edition than the standard retail version – the art is perfect and certainly fits the film well. You really have to do a lot of pausing, staring, and disc flipping to find the "oh yeah there I can see it" moments.
