I dreamed of it like an archaeologist dreams of sculptures from antiquity lying at the bottom of the sea for millennia, sculptures of perfect bodies, matched only by the women of today — an ideal and timeless beauty. So yeah, clean soapy musk, low-pitched and non-sweet fuzzy floral, a bit of smooth buttery leather and warm air/steam. I can't decide which way it wants to go and I get impressions of a very very faint Magie Noire tendency. A 5ml sample of Alaia greeted me when we came home and now this fresh scent reminds me distinctly of the pine and wilderness of Mammoth. I congratulate Azzedine Alaïa for giving the most perfect inspiration - its childhood in Tunisia - to create this perfume.

The items arrived has described however I just wished they we packed better since the parfum bottles had a small issue with the atomizers.I understand that leather scents are not always everyone's cup of tea, however I find it to be a beautiful leathery composition. I went about my day and every now and then I'd get a whiff of what to me, was the most wonderful scent, and no headache. All in all, if I had to pick a fragrance, Alaia would not be at my top, I'd rather go for TF Black Orchid or Noir de Noir. Luca Turin's review is pretty spot-on, though, even if he likes Alaia much more than I do: it truly does develop backwards with a dry down that is fresher than the initial peppery spray. Before i started collecting perfume i disliked this perfume and thought it smelt like a dirty animal. then within about 15 minutes the cheap musk smell evaporated and the most delicate leather/ violet combo shone through and I love it!But, its not like an Oud or Sandalwood, its a kinda woodsy-ness that creeps in because of the well mixed notes. Beloved by supermodels of the ’90s (when women on catwalks were allowed to have hips and a cleavage – imagine! Even later still, there's a creamier quality to the leather, I get a quality like amber in there, too. The scent evokes different notes through the day, it does not evolve into base notes, it comes and goes. Both exquisite flowers of freesia make you crazy with their charm and the central composition combined with the honey sweetness of the peony excites your memories of romantic moments and makes your heart beat faster.

Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places.
