About this deal

You would expect him to be cheaper than a regular Henry. Does extra storage space make up the extra in cost? I will at this stage admit to a slight Henry obsession. I didn’t think about my girlfriend Jess’s Henry a great deal when I moved in with her 10 years ago, or when he moved with us to a new home after our marriage. It was only after the arrival of our son in 2017 that he began to occupy a bigger place in our family. Humans far outnumber robots, one of which is employed every 30 seconds to lift an assembled Henry into a box for dispatch. “We do a different job every hour,” says Stevenson, who started out making Henry in around 1990. The Henry line is the busiest in the factory. Elsewhere I meet Paul King, 69, who is about to retire after 50 years at Numatic. Today he’s making attachments for a ride-on floor scrubber. “I worked on Henry years ago but they’re too fast for me on that line these days,” he says after turning down his radio. Haven’t you always wanted a cleaner who could do pretty much everything? If so, George could be the man for you. Big green and friendly he’s great in the dry happy cleaning up spills, or scrubbing away stubborn stains. There is nothing he can’t handle.

In the dry it has a hefty storage capacity of 15 litres and a wide range of attachments means it can switch effortlessly between different tasks. It really is a vacuum which can rise to meet just about every challenge you can think of. The Henry vacuum cleaner range covers a number of price points. The more expensive models, like the George, do more things than the models that don’t cost as much. Adversely, the cheapest Henry Vacuum is likely to be the original version. You would think that you paid less for less dustbin capacity (like what you get with the James, where you sacrifice dustbin space for storage) but this isn’t the case. What is a Class Rating?Humans far outnumber robots at the factory in Chard, Somerset. Photograph: Ben Quinton/The Guardian The Henry range of vacuum cleaners tend to vary in dustbin capacity. The traditional models have 9L, while the wet and dry models have a 9L wet capacity but a 15L dry dirt capacity. Is it Bagless? Freshly moulded and printed Henry faces, ready to be attached. Photograph: Ben Quinton/The Guardian My own Henry spends more time under the stairs these days, but his bond with Jake remains strong. Jake can talk for England now, if not always coherently. When I attempt to interview him, it’s clear he sees nothing unusual in loving a vacuum cleaner. “I love Henry hoover and Hetty hoover because they’re both hoovers,” he tells me. “Because you can hoover with them.

Have Questions about Henry, Hetty, Charles, George – or any other vacuums? We may already have the answer… What’s the best Henry for my small home or outhouse? Add to that all the usual benefits of the Henry range such as 9 litre capacity, a sturdy frame and reliable, long-lasting performance and you have the perfect addition for any pet lover’s home. It’s not nearly as heavy as you would think for all those extras. It isn’t expensive, it doesn’t make much noise. When you buy one of these machines you are buying a product that will stand the test of time. It won’t let you down. It will continue to run even when you can no longer do so. That’s a special thing in a brand. FAQ’s about the Henry Vacuum Range
