There are plenty of things to talk about throughout the story - rich vs poor, politics, gang culture, theft, execution, boys vs girls and I'm sure many more that a talented teacher could pull out. As an adult reader the plot is fairly obvious, but I'm not sure the intended age range would see it that way. The principle characters are well defined and likeable (those that are supposed to be!) and mainly convincing. The end was a little over the top for my liking, and so didn't feel very authentic to me. Julia Golding (born in 1969) grew up near Epping Forest in Essex and, as a child, used to love making up stories about the trees she could see from her bedroom window. Later, she studied English literature at Cambridge and Oxford Universities. Her focus on changes in society during the industrial revolution inspired her to write The Diamond of Drury Lane. As a child she was inspired by books that placed importance on using your imagination to help you through hard times.

Despite the adventure Julia Golding has not ignored the darker side to Cat’s world which I think is great. Other bus services, such as school bus, charter, or sightseeing transports, are not exempted and must carry the minimum number of occupant to be eligible. How Are HOV Lanes Enforced?
